Colquitt County, GA (September 26, 2025) – A serious crash involving a Walmart semitruck and a minivan occurred on Friday, September 26, in Colquitt County.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the collision began when a minivan pulled out in front of the semi while attempting to enter the roadway. The truck driver, unable to stop in time, struck the minivan with significant force. The impact pushed the semi off the road, where it crashed into a nearby home.
Officials confirmed that the driver of the minivan has been charged with failure to yield when entering a roadway. The truck driver’s condition has not yet been made public.
Authorities also reported that a woman inside the home suffered injuries in the crash. Thankfully, her injuries were not considered life-threatening. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Our thoughts are with everyone harmed in this accident, and we sincerely hope for a smooth and full recovery for each of the injured individuals.
The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
We wish those hurt a rapid recovery.
Truck Accidents in Colquitt County
Collisions involving large commercial trucks and smaller passenger vehicles are some of the most dangerous crashes on Georgia’s roadways. The recent accident in Colquitt County illustrates how quickly a routine trip can turn into a devastating event when a traffic mistake occurs.
Large trucks, such as semis, pose unique risks because of their massive size and weight. They require far more time and distance to come to a complete stop compared to smaller cars. When a passenger vehicle suddenly pulls into their path, the truck driver often has no way to avoid impact. As a result, collisions with semis frequently cause catastrophic injuries, widespread property damage, or even fatalities. In this case, the force of the crash not only damaged both vehicles but also extended into a residential property, injuring someone inside their own home.

Georgia records thousands of crashes involving commercial vehicles each year, and Colquitt County is not immune to these tragedies. Many of these accidents stem from driver errors, such as:
-
Failure to yield the right of way
-
Distracted driving, including cellphone use
-
Speeding or following too closely
-
Unsafe lane changes or turns
