Traffic Accidents in Georgia
Every year, Georgia experiences a troubling number of bicycle-related collisions, with many resulting in fatal outcomes, especially in high-traffic areas like Gwinnett County. These tragic accidents leave lasting scars on families and communities, claiming lives that are often lost too soon.
A major factor behind these deadly crashes is driver negligence, which continues to play a role in the vast majority of traffic fatalities across the country. In fact, experts estimate that over 90% of roadway deaths can be traced back to some form of human error. Among the most dangerous behaviors behind the wheel are:
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Distracted driving, including texting or checking GPS while driving
- Driver fatigue or falling asleep at the wheel
- Excessive speeding, especially in areas shared with cyclists
National data shows that speeding alone is involved in more than 12,000 traffic deaths annually, while distracted driving is responsible for over 400,000 crashes each year. When these reckless actions intersect with vulnerable road users like bicyclists—who lack the physical protection offered by motor vehicles—the consequences are often devastating.
If your loved one was killed in a bicycle accident due to a negligent driver, you may have grounds for a wrongful death claim. Families in this situation are frequently left to cope with overwhelming grief, sudden financial hardship, and unanswered questions about what went wrong.
