South Fulton, GA (April 16, 2025) – A South Fulton police officer lost his life in a traffic accident on April 15. Reports concerning the accident show it occurred on Flat Shoals Road near Connell Road around midnight. According to information provided by police, Lt. Helio Gardia was on duty when a driver veered into his travel lane, causing a head-on collision. Both Garcia and the other driver were transported to a local hospital from the scene. Sadly, Garcia lost his life due to the extent of his injuries. The other driver was a young woman who sustained severe injuries. She is currently in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital. At this time, the reason the crash occurred is under local law enforcement investigation.
