Newton Co., GA - Two-Car Collision on I-20 Takes One Life

Newton Co., GA (February 25, 2025) – A two-car crash happened in Newton County on Monday, February 24 that took the life of one individual. Another person suffered critical injuries in the accident that happened at approximately 3:42 a.m. Initial investigation reports revealed that a passenger vehicle rear-ended a semi-truck at a high rate of speed in the right lane of Interstate 20, near milepost 100 and near the Walton County line.

The car was also traveling without headlights, sources said. Both vehicles then left the road and stopped in the median. A passenger inside the car was killed on impact. The driver was transported by helicopter to Grady Hospital where he remains in critical condition. Neither victim has been identified at this time. The driver will be charged with felony vehicular homicide in the first degree, DUI, and other traffic-related offenses. Police in Newton continue to investigate the details of the accident.
