Marietta, GA (June 10, 2025) – A fatal motorcycle crash shut down multiple lanes on Interstate 75 North in Marietta on Tuesday morning, June 10, leading to significant delays and a continuing investigation by local authorities.
The deadly collision occurred just past Delk Road, where 19-year-old Elijah Cochran of Smyrna was riding northbound on his motorcycle when he was involved in a crash with a Ford F-350 pickup truck. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 11:15 a.m., at which point all but one northbound lane were closed to traffic. Congestion quickly backed up past the I-285 interchange.
Marietta Police issued an alert to drivers, urging them to avoid the area while their Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit worked to document and investigate the incident. By Tuesday afternoon, all lanes were reopened to traffic.
Authorities have not yet released details about the events leading up to the crash, and the investigation remains active. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is encouraged to contact Investigator A. Walters at 770-794-5357.
This marks yet another heartbreaking reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on Georgia’s roadways, particularly on high-speed corridors like I-75.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
Georgia Car Accidents
Motorcycle accidents are among the most devastating events on Georgia’s roads—and in cities like Marietta, where high-speed traffic and heavy congestion intersect, riders face a particularly high level of risk. According to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis, more than 5,000 motorcyclists were killed nationwide in 2019 alone, with riders accounting for the overwhelming majority of those deaths.
Tragically, when a motorcycle crash turns fatal, families are left reeling, grappling with loss, unanswered questions, and unexpected financial burdens. In cases where riders survive but suffer catastrophic injuries, the road to recovery can be long, painful, and expensive.
High medical bills, lost wages, and long-term care needs can quickly pile up. Unfortunately, insurance companies often fail to offer settlements that reflect the full extent of the harm caused. That’s why having an experienced motorcycle accident attorney on your side is so important.
