Car Accidents in Georgia

DeKalb Co., GA – One Killed, Another Injured in Crash on Memorial DrMotor vehicle accidents are a leading cause of serious injuries and fatalities across Georgia. Each year, thousands of people lose their lives in crashes throughout the state. In 2023 alone, the Georgia Department of Transportation reported over 1,800 traffic-related deaths. Many of these accidents occur at intersections, where left turns and crossing traffic create significant hazards.

Several factors contribute to crashes on Georgia’s roads, including:

  • Failure to Yield – Many accidents happen when drivers fail to yield while making turns. This can result in dangerous T-bone or head-on collisions.
  • Speeding – Driving above the speed limit reduces reaction time and increases the force of impact in a crash, often leading to severe injuries.
  • Distracted Driving – Texting, phone use, and other distractions take a driver’s focus off the road, leading to avoidable accidents.
  • Poor Visibility – Limited sightlines at intersections, due to obstructions or weather conditions, can make it difficult for drivers to see oncoming traffic.
