DeKalb Co., GA (May 15, 2025) – A traffic collision on the northbound side of I-285 (Outer Loop) near Memorial Drive (Exit 41) caused major delays for evening commuters in DeKalb County. The crash, reported around 7:30 p.m., blocked two right lanes, significantly impacting traffic flow through the area.
Authorities were on the scene working to clear the wreckage and manage congestion. Paramedics worked to help injured victims and transport them to the hospital if needed. Currently, the total number of injured parties has not been reported. Motorists were strongly advised to avoid the area if possible and consider using the Downtown Connector as an alternate route.
At this time, it’s unclear how many vehicles were involved. Drivers were asked to remain alert and expect extended travel times if traveling in the vicinity of Exit 41.
Our thoughts are with those involved. We hope for their full recovery.
Georgia Car Crashes
Each year, Georgia experiences an alarming number of motor vehicle collisions—over 300,000 annually—resulting in severe injuries for many and claiming the lives of roughly 2,000 individuals. Across the United States, car accidents remain one of the top causes of injury and death, with the majority linked to human error and negligent driving.
While factors such as mechanical failure or hazardous road conditions can contribute to crashes, most accidents are avoidable and stem from carelessness behind the wheel. Speeding, distraction, intoxication, and fatigue are just a few behaviors that place everyone on the road at risk. When drivers fail to act responsibly, they endanger lives and leave lasting impacts on their victims.
