Barnesville, GA (November 28, 2024) – A man lost his life in a traffic accident in Barnesville after falling asleep at the wheel. The wreck occurred at approximately 2:24 a.m. on Thursday, November 28. The Georgia State Patrol reports Decarlos Sheppard, 40, of Upson County was headed south on Georgia Highway 36 when the vehicle crossed the center line and left the road near Country Kitchen Road. Shortly afterward, the vehicle overturned and struck several trees before stopping. Sheppard was found at the scene with a fatal head injury. A passenger present in the vehicle suffered injuries, reports read. Police in Barnesville continue to investigate.
