Georgia Traffic Accidents

Augusta, GA - Andrew Mark Pregel Loses Life in Crash on Mike Padgett HwyEach year, Georgia reports over 300,000 car accidents, leading to more than 150,000 injuries and claiming the lives of more than 1,000 people. Sadly, the vast majority of these crashes — more than 90% — are entirely preventable, often caused by driver negligence.

Negligent driving has become an increasingly serious problem across the nation, particularly over the past decade. Among the most frequent forms of dangerous driving behaviors are:

  • Driving while fatigued
  • Excessive speeding
  • Operating a vehicle under the influence
  • Distracted driving

In 2022 alone, speeding was a factor in 12,151 fatalities in the U.S., accounting for nearly 30% of all traffic deaths. Although this reflects a slight drop of about 3% from 2021, speeding remains a major contributor to roadway tragedies.
