Georgia Bus Accidents
Bus crashes in the United States are a substantial concern, with thousands of accidents occurring per year. According to information provided by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, over 15,000 bus collisions take place per year. Around 47% of these cause injuries and approximately 1.5% result in death.
Occupants of smaller vehicles are at a much higher risk of sustaining serious injuries or losing their lives when involved in traffic accidents with buses. When fully loaded with passengers, a bus can weigh more than 60,000 pounds, which is about 17 times heavier than the average passenger vehicle. This makes for extremely dangerous circumstances when these two types of cars collide on the road.
If you or someone you love has recently been hurt in a traffic accident involving a bus, you may be going through a difficult time. You may have suffered serious injuries that will need extensive medical attention. The average emergency room visit in the US costs approximately $3,300. In-patient hospital stays can cost much more–in the tens of thousands of dollars. Having to spend this type of money unexpectedly can be extremely overwhelming and difficult.
