Whitfield Co., GA - Deadly Car Accident on I-75 near Milepost 331

Whitfield Co., GA (June 20, 2025) — A tragic two-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Whitfield County claimed the life of a 25-year-old Dalton woman early Friday morning.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, troopers responded to the northbound side of the interstate near mile marker 331 at approximately 6:44 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a serious collision involving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma and a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Dashcam footage from the Georgia Department of Transportation shows both vehicles traveling northbound when a sequence of maneuvers led to a violent impact. The Toyota ultimately overturned and came to rest on its roof after striking the median guardrail. The Jeep also came to a stop in the left emergency lane, with its front end resting on top of the overturned vehicle.

Emergency personnel pronounced the driver of the Toyota, identified as Jocelyn Gutierrez of Dalton, deceased at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a 73-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, was not reported to have sustained serious injuries.

The crash forced the closure of all northbound lanes between 7:10 a.m. and 9:18 a.m. as investigators and emergency crews worked to secure the area and clear the wreckage.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Jocelyn Gutierrez during this difficult time.
