Georgia Pedestrian Collisions
As documented by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a pedestrian is seriously injured in a vehicle accident once every 8 minutes and killed in a vehicle accident once every two hours somewhere within the United States. Roughly 5,000 pedestrians were killed in car accidents in 2022. During that same year, about 15% of all car accident-related deaths were pedestrians.
By itself, Georgia witnessed more than 1,500 car accident-related deaths in 2022. This number represents a reduction of just over 2% from 2021 when close to 1,550 crash fatalities took place. Distracted driving is noted as the primary cause of a majority of these fatal pedestrian accidents. Speaking with a Georgia pedestrian injury attorney can help you decide your best course of action.
