Rincon, GA (October 8, 2025) – Authorities have released new information following a deadly crash that shut down a section of Highway 21 in Rincon on Wednesday morning. The collision, which occurred near 4th Street, left one person dead and another hospitalized.
According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary reports indicate that a vehicle was attempting to make a left turn from 4th St onto southbound Hwy 21 when it was struck by a pickup truck traveling north. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and resulted in a prolonged road closure as investigators examined the scene.
Emergency medical teams and law enforcement responded immediately. Sadly, the driver of the vehicle attempting to turn left was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of the impact. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased driver pending notification of family members. Additional details are expected once the investigation concludes.
