Macon, GA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on Riverside Dr, Suspect Arrested

Macon, GA (December 1, 2025) – A man was struck and killed in a deadly hit-and-run crash on November 30 on Riverside Drive in Macon, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.

The fatal incident occurred along the 2600 block of Riverside Drive, where the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle whose driver immediately fled the scene. On Monday morning, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed that 22-year-old Francisco Chan-Garcia was arrested and charged in connection with the hit-and-run. The name of the victim has not yet been released as officials work to confirm his identity.

Law enforcement continues to investigate the crash, and further details are expected from the Georgia State Patrol in the coming days.

Our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of the victim during this challenging time.

Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents in MaconMacon, GA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on Riverside Dr, Suspect Arrested

Pedestrian fatalities involving hit-and-run drivers are particularly heartbreaking. Not only are victims often left without immediate medical help, but their families are left with shock, grief, and a lack of answers. In cities like Macon, where heavily traveled roads like Riverside Drive see regular foot and vehicle traffic, pedestrian safety is a growing concern.

Georgia law requires drivers involved in any crash—especially those involving injury or death—to stop at the scene, call for help, and cooperate with authorities. Leaving the scene of a fatal crash is a felony offense that carries serious penalties, including prison time. Unfortunately, hit-and-run incidents still happen, often leaving families to deal with both emotional trauma and financial stress in the aftermath.

For families who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, pursuing a wrongful death claim can be a way to seek justice and begin the healing process. These claims may provide compensation for funeral costs, medical bills, loss of income, emotional suffering, and other damages related to the loss. When a suspect is located and arrested—as in the recent Macon incident—the legal path forward becomes clearer for surviving family members.

Building a strong wrongful death case often involves collecting evidence, speaking with witnesses, and working with professionals who understand both the emotional and legal aspects of such tragedies. That’s why having the right legal support matters.

If you have lost someone in a pedestrian crash or hit-and-run accident, it is vital to speak with a knowledgeable wrongful death attorney who can guide you through your legal options.
