Georgia Pedestrian Accidents

Hinesville, GA - Toddler Loses Life in Pedestrian Accident in Walmart Parking LotPedestrian fatalities continue to pose a serious threat on Georgia’s roads. In 2024 alone, 294 lives were lost in pedestrian-related crashes across the state—a sobering reminder of the dangers that persist for those traveling on foot. Alarmingly, the vast majority of these deaths—84%—occurred at night, and 95% took place outside of designated crosswalks, highlighting the urgent need for better infrastructure, visibility, and driver accountability.

While national pedestrian deaths saw a slight decline in 2023, Georgia’s numbers remain distressingly high and well above pre-pandemic levels. These tragedies leave behind grieving families who must cope with not only emotional pain but also financial uncertainty.
