Gainesville, GA (June 12, 2025) — A fatal two-vehicle collision on Tuesday night claimed the life of a Gainesville resident, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cornelia Highway (GA 365) and White Sulphur Road. Emergency personnel from Hall County, along with investigators from the Accident Investigation Unit and Uniform Patrol Division, were dispatched to the scene.
Authorities confirmed that Richard Dean Short, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four individuals in the second vehicle involved in the crash reported minor injuries and were evaluated by emergency responders. None required immediate hospitalization.
The accident caused significant traffic delays in the area for approximately 90 minutes while officials worked to investigate and clear the roadway.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
