Georgia Car Crashes

Tragically, fatal car accidents remain a persistent and devastating issue across Georgia. Each year, thousands of lives are lost in traffic collisions nationwide, and Georgia consistently ranks among the states with the highest number of roadway fatalities. In 2022 alone, more than 1,800 people died in motor vehicle crashes across the state, marking a troubling trend that shows no signs of slowing.

Busy highways, high-speed corridors, and dense urban traffic—especially in cities like Atlanta, Macon, and Augusta—create dangerous conditions where a single moment of negligence can lead to irreversible loss. Over the past five years, Georgia has seen a sharp rise in deadly crashes, many of them tied to common yet avoidable factors such as:

  • Distracted driving, including texting behind the wheel
  • Speeding, particularly in residential zones and on interstates
  • Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Driver fatigue and falling asleep at the wheel
  • Failure to obey traffic signals and signs

When a fatal car accident occurs, the pain left behind is immeasurable. Families are left to cope with not only the emotional heartbreak of losing a loved one, but also the financial burden of medical bills, funeral expenses, and lost household income. These losses can feel overwhelming, and pursuing accountability can be incredibly difficult without the right support.
