Edgefield County, GA (July 1, 2025) — One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision early Sunday morning, June 29, on U.S. Highway 378 near the intersection with Callison Highway.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:00 a.m. when a 2022 Ford F-250 traveling eastbound on US-378 collided with a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro that was heading south on Callison Highway. Authorities say the Ford truck struck the Camaro on the passenger side.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased individual.

Georgia Car Crashes

Edgefield Co., GA - One Killed in Two-Car Crash on Hwy 378Every year, Georgia’s roads become the scene of heartbreaking tragedy as thousands of lives are cut short in fatal car accidents. With more than 300,000 crashes reported annually across the state, far too many end in devastating loss, leaving families to cope with sudden grief, unanswered questions, and overwhelming financial burdens.

Nationwide, over 40,000 people die in motor vehicle accidents each year. In Georgia alone, hundreds of fatal collisions are reported in both urban and rural counties, including here in Bryan County. What’s behind most of these deadly crashes? Negligence.

Dangerous driving behaviors such as speeding, distracted driving, running red lights, and driving under the influence continue to plague our roadways. In fact, the vast majority of fatal accidents—over 90%—can be traced back to preventable human error.
