Georgia Traffic Accidents

DeKalb Co., GA - One Dead, Two Hurt in Collision on I-20 near Wesley Chapel RdEvery year, Georgia experiences a high number of auto accidents, with more than 300,000 crashes reported annually. These accidents result in over 150,000 injuries and, tragically, more than 1,000 lives lost each year in the state. What’s even more concerning is that over 90% of these accidents are preventable and caused by negligent driving.

Negligent driving has become a growing problem nationwide, especially in the last decade. Common forms of driver negligence include:

  • Fatigue
  • Speeding
  • Driving under the influence
  • Distracted driving

In 2022, speeding was responsible for 12,151 fatalities in the United States, accounting for nearly 30% of the nation’s traffic-related deaths. Although there was a slight decrease from the previous year, speeding remains a critical issue on the roads.
