Fatal Car Accidents in Georgia

Head-on collisions are among the most deadly types of car accidents in Georgia, often resulting in catastrophic injuries or fatalities. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, head-on crashes account for a small percentage of total collisions but nearly 30% of all fatal accidents statewide. These incidents typically occur on undivided highways or rural routes such as Highway 300, where high speeds and limited lighting increase the risk of tragedy.
Common causes of fatal collisions in Georgia include distracted driving, drowsy driving, impaired driving, and lane departure due to loss of control. Rural highways are particularly dangerous at night, as drivers may inadvertently drift into opposing lanes or fail to notice hazards until it’s too late.
