Bainbridge, GA – Officer and Another Injured in Afternoon Crash on SR 1

Two Injured in Afternoon Crash on SR 1

Bainbridge, GA (February 10, 2026) – Two people were injured on Monday, February 9, after a crash involving a Georgia State Patrol vehicle on State Route 1 in Georgia. The accident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Officials said a trooper was driving south in the right lane when a gray Toyota Tacoma traveling north attempted a left-hand turn and failed to yield. The patrol car struck the passenger side of the Tacoma, causing the truck to roll onto its side.

Emergency crews responded to assist both drivers. The trooper was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the Tacoma’s driver was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Authorities have not released updates on their current conditions.

Investigators spent several hours documenting the scene and clearing debris from the roadway. The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation to determine how the crash occurred.

Our thoughts are with both injured drivers, and we wish them a full and smooth recovery.

Should I Call My Insurance Company After a Georgia Car Accident?

Two Injured in Afternoon Crash on SR 1Georgia law requires you to report a crash to your insurance company. Timely reporting helps protect your benefits and keeps coverage active. It also ensures the insurer has an official record of the incident.

Failing to report a crash could lead your insurer to deny coverage, even if you weren’t at fault. Reporting simply notifies the company that an accident occurred. It also confirms that you’ve met your policy’s notification requirements.

Before contacting your insurer, gather all key details about the crash. Include the time, location, vehicle information, and any photos or reports. Sharing clear and accurate details early helps avoid confusion later.

Your insurer and the other driver’s company have different responsibilities. Yours covers your repairs and medical bills, while theirs handles liability. Reporting to both helps avoid mix-ups during the claims process.

When talking with insurance representatives, share only what you know and can confirm. Stay calm and professional throughout the discussion. Ask for the name and contact details of anyone you speak with for your records.
