Atlanta, GA (December 13, 2025) – A deadly vehicle crash claimed two lives on Saturday, December 13, on Interstate 75 in southwest Atlanta.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene near Cleveland Avenue Southwest around 3:15 a.m. after reports of a severe crash with fire. Investigators said a Kia Sportage was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 when the driver attempted to exit and lost control.
The SUV left the roadway, struck a pole, and erupted into flames on impact. The violent crash caused extreme damage and trapped both occupants inside the burning vehicle. Despite rapid response efforts, both occupants died at the scene from their injuries. Authorities have not released their identities.
Investigators spent several hours examining the wreckage and collecting evidence to determine what caused the crash. The Atlanta Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragedy.
Fatal Car Accidents in Georgia
Fatal car accidents take far too many lives across Georgia every year. Major highways like Interstate 75 carry heavy traffic at all hours, including late-night and early-morning travel. At highway speeds, a single loss of control can turn a routine drive into a tragedy within seconds.
Single-vehicle crashes often lead to deadly outcomes because they involve fixed objects such as poles, barriers, or embankments. These impacts deliver the full force of the crash to the vehicle and its occupants. When a fire follows a collision, the danger rises sharply and leaves little chance for survival.
Families who lose loved ones in fatal crashes face sudden and overwhelming grief. Many also confront serious financial stress. Funeral costs, lost income, and lasting emotional pain can alter a family’s future without warning. During this difficult time, families often search for answers and accountability.
Georgia law allows surviving family members to pursue a wrongful death claim. This legal action seeks justice for the loss of life and may provide compensation for funeral expenses, lost financial support, and the full value of the life lost. These cases demand careful investigation and experienced legal guidance.
Insurance companies often contact families soon after fatal crashes and may push for fast settlements. These early offers rarely reflect the true impact of a family’s loss. Speaking with a skilled wrongful death lawyer in Atlanta before accepting any offer helps protect your rights and secure the full compensation you deserve.
