Two Injured in Multi Vehicle Crash on GA-17 Near Cool Springs Rd

Habersham County, GA (November 7, 2025) – Two drivers sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident that disrupted traffic Thursday morning along Georgia Highway 17 near Cool Springs Road in Habersham County. The collision, which involved a Ford F-350 pickup truck and a Ford Focus, prompted an immediate response from the Georgia State Patrol and Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

According to officials, the crash occurred shortly after 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 6. A 2006 Ford F-350 was traveling east through the Exxon Gas Station parking lot and attempted to turn left onto GA-17. The driver reportedly failed to yield and pulled into the path of a 2014 Ford Focus traveling southbound. The impact caused both vehicles to sustain major damage.

The F-350 came to rest just off the roadway, while the Focus stopped at the point of impact, partially blocking the highway. First responders from Habersham County Fire and EMS arrived within minutes, providing medical assistance to both drivers. The individuals were then transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment of injuries. The extent of those injuries has not been disclosed.

Images released by officials show extensive damage to the passenger vehicle and a heavy truck that veered into a roadside ditch near an embankment. Crews worked efficiently to clear the wreckage, and the roadway was reopened to normal traffic within one hour.

Authorities from the Georgia State Patrol continue to investigate the crash, focusing on possible contributing factors such as driver error, failure to yield, and road visibility. No charges have been announced at this time, and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.

We wish the victims and everyone involved a speedy and complete recovery.

Accidents like Thursday’s collision on GA-17 highlight the dangers of driver inattention and failure to yield at intersections and access points. Highways in rural and suburban areas of Georgia, such as those running through Clarkesville and Habersham County, often experience steady traffic from both passenger and commercial vehicles. When drivers misjudge speed or distance during a turn, it can lead to serious or even life-threatening crashes.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, intersection-related collisions account for a large percentage of roadway injuries in the state each year. These accidents frequently occur when drivers fail to yield the right of way, disregard traffic signs, or miscalculate timing while entering major highways.
